Why is the 1.9 TDI so good? The 1.9 TDI engine was known for its good fuel efficiency and reliability, and it was popular among consumers and automotive experts alike. One of the key features of the 1.9 TDI engine was its use of direct injection technology, which allowed for more precise fuel delivery and improved fuel efficiency.
Free Member. Ibiza FR 1.9 TDI 130, 05 plate ~50k miles. I get 40-45mpg usually, more on longer drives on motorways. Can eek out 50-55mpg if I want to, never had much over 55mpg though, even trying

TDI. 98 Jetta TDI AHU 1.9L (944 TDI swap in progress) I moved so now i got nothing but an AHU in a garage on a pallet. Dec 3, 2017. #2. Not sure what you’re talking about or asking about due to the poor translation from polish to English. I am running a GT2052 and it’s an ok turbo for a HUGE setup but it’s too big.
I get about 9 PSI boost at full tilt between 2200 and 3500 rpm. It seems to make good power, with a haze of smoke at fill tilt. I turned the fuel screw in a half turn and still only about 9 psi boost.
Regarding upping the boost. The AXG engine is 150hp as standard and uses a VNT turbo which generates between 1.7 & 2.0 bar (similar to the AHY above). This on the same 2.5 engine as the AJT (mine) and even has the same compression ration of 19.5:1 so I was thinking that it would be okay to up the boost on mine a little.
HMm8ssT. I would love to build a mild modded tdi, just to have something a little off the beaten path, but if it's not realistic compared to a 1.8t 20v, then so be it. I've owned about a dozen vw's (My current Type 3 Squareback on air, 5 mk2 roccos, mk1 rabbit, 2 mk2 jettas, 2 mk4 gti's, mid 80's vanagon gf has a mkv jetta 2.0t)
Nov 14, 2012. #10. VeeDubTDI said: I think the turbo could theoretically make 1 - 2 psi at idle if the VNT was in max boost position. However, I doubt it is programmed to do this due to increased NOx production and fuel consumption and no benefit to performance.
How much Power can an 1.9 ALH transmission handle without taking damage over long term driving or hard acceleration? Tags automatic transmission bolt ons tdi tuning.
fivechickens • 4 yr. ago. The factory exhaust will limit your power and EGTs to about 120hp or so. If you open up the exhaust to a 2.5” turbo-back pipe you and keep the boost spikes under control you can aim for 320tq/150whp at 24psi at sea level with proper nozzles and tuning, but don’t expect the turbo to last forever.
The tee-piece is a temperature sensitive valve that opens when the fuel temperature is below about 15 C / 60 F, and closes fully when above 25 C / 80 F - the purpose of this is to supply some heat to the filter during cold conditions, to resist the tendency for cold diesel fuel to "gel".
I would look for an AAZ to drop in unless you want bigger power. The AAZ is a 1.9 Liter turbocharged motor. It's effectively an indirect injected version of a TDI but runs less (factory) boost. The AAZ is 75 hp stock but that can easy get to the 100 range with injectors, turbo, boost pin and exhaust. It's 100% mechanical so it drops right in.
